Nā Pali means simply "the cliffs." Roughly sixteen miles of them line Kauaʻi's northwest shore, and the tallest stand close to 4,000 feet above the Pacific.
Kauaʻi is the oldest of the main Hawaiian islands, some five million years of rain and surf, and this coast is what erosion left behind: fluted ridges, hanging valleys, and sea caves cut at the waterline.
